The Shot of Your Life

After a while I was dancing rather than counting my steps, playing music instead of notes. I was having fun. The transition from trying to letting was profound. Something was awakening within. A sense of simple enlightenment was seeping in to the hardness of my soul. Could it be that art had to be learned with a different heart? Could it be that performance is art? And art is not about the outcome…

The Real Deal

One of my greatest desires as a coach is for my players to make their teammates better on and off the court. I also want to see them rise to the occasion when it means the most—game day. David has given us a road map for both in his new book greatness.

The U.S. Opens of Life

The US Open is a step up from normal competition; it’s in a different league. Extreme variables, unforeseen challenges, monumental decisions,” Johnny said. “The U.S. Open is about pinpoint accuracy and freedom in the chaos. To win an Open your belief roots must go deep. Rhythm, Balance, and Patience

I repeated the fly-casting once again. My focus was on rhythm, balance, and patience. It was as though I was in a trance. For a few moments I forgot where I was, who was watching, and how I had gotten there. It was just a rod, a fish, and me. The experience was mesmerizing. The water was like glass as the stillness of the Texas Hill Country settled around me and within me. The Secret of Fearlessness

So here is the secret of fearlessness:
I took God at His word.
Somewhere along my journey the words quoted below jumped off the pages of scripture. I had a choice to believe that they were true or that they were a myth. That God was real or not. I had a choice to take God at His word. My choice would ultimately revolutionize everything I did. Here is what I read:
‘Perfect love drives out fear.’

The Voice

I have always believed that two are better than one. When facing the raging challenges of this life, we need an advocate. We need a voice of wisdom that is with us in the heat of the battle. We don’t need that voice to be on the sidelines; we need it as close as possible, in our hearts.

The Masters

Johnny said, “I learned long ago that golf is to art like dance is to music. Dance is a physical expression of the music; a golf shot is a physical expression of art. To be a great player you must be a great shot-maker. To be a great shot-maker, you must become an artist. All shots start with a blank canvas—the quality of our shot mimics the quality of our painting.”
